Thomas Dang was elected as the MLA for Edmonton-South West in 2015, he is the youngest MLA ever elected in Alberta. He quickly proved to be a passionate, strong, and effective voice in the Legislature and continues to do so as the re-elected MLA for Edmonton South, and the NDP Critic for Infrastructure.
Thomas was born and raised in Edmonton, he is the second child of refugee parents who came to Canada following the Vietnam War as part of the many boat people welcomed to Canada. His upbringing fuels his work on anti-racism, helping racialized communities, and strengthening education is guided by his family’s past. The hard work and dedication his parents brought with them is something he strives to honour every single day.
Prior to entering politics, Thomas worked as a software consultant at various startups and was an activist and advocate for education.
